Portfolio....a resume for abstract types.

So I let my portfolio of work dwindle over the years, ok that is an understatement. For a few years during and just after college I pretty much ignored every creative impulse, didn't help that life kept on hurling flaming lemons at me (metaphorically, luckily). In a move I had in mid-college most of my old paintings and drawings were destroyed or handed bad water damage, only a few remain. Thus I find myself in my current position as an out of work twenty-something who's also trying to resurrect my art career.

It's not as easy as it sounds, building up a body of work. There's questions you have to ask yourself like do you want to do cohesive collections? And if you want to then how do you want to group them, are they part of the same collection because of style, subject matter, or some unconventional medium? Of course in the midst of all of these questions you just go with your artist flow. Some paintings seem to come out of the pen with little though on behalf of the artist while others take days to plan and weeks to execute.

I think I'm doing well so far, I have a lot of work that isn't posted on deviantART yet or even mention on this site. c'est la vie.

Art is an odd animal to mess with.
