Portfolio....a resume for abstract types.

So I let my portfolio of work dwindle over the years, ok that is an understatement. For a few years during and just after college I pretty much ignored every creative impulse, didn't help that life kept on hurling flaming lemons at me (metaphorically, luckily). In a move I had in mid-college most of my old paintings and drawings were destroyed or handed bad water damage, only a few remain. Thus I find myself in my current position as an out of work twenty-something who's also trying to resurrect my art career.

It's not as easy as it sounds, building up a body of work. There's questions you have to ask yourself like do you want to do cohesive collections? And if you want to then how do you want to group them, are they part of the same collection because of style, subject matter, or some unconventional medium? Of course in the midst of all of these questions you just go with your artist flow. Some paintings seem to come out of the pen with little though on behalf of the artist while others take days to plan and weeks to execute.

I think I'm doing well so far, I have a lot of work that isn't posted on deviantART yet or even mention on this site. c'est la vie.

Art is an odd animal to mess with.

Tree...Definitely A Tree

Roots. Might not seem like a big step but it pretty much means I'm running with the tree concept. I definately have an idea of how it's gonna end up :).

Hmmmm

The picture below is a thumbnail of course, not sure if im gonna keep hosting these off site, might use google or something else. I'm not in love w/ the lag time.

A Tree , Well Thus Far

Work In Progress

Well I started off just painting a gray background with a thick layer of gray, then I laid on the black ground, and randomly I started to put a tree in the middle of it. Not sure the direction this is gonna take, stay tuned.

Hey World, Having Fun?

This is me. I'm Adam. My story is that I'm the literal embodiment of the term starving artist, well maybe not literal, but I did have to move back home so really haven't I suffered enough?

Im starting this Art Log because I can't afford to set up my own site just yet and with my Unemployment ending soon, it might be a bit before I can attach this thing to a proper site. Pretty much I'm gonna use this site to publish random thoughts as well as put my art out there. I've had a lot of experience running blogs so I though this was a natural step.

All of that being said please respect my intellectual property (IP) rights. Nothing on this blog is available for commercial use, so if you see some art on here you wanna use commercially email me and we'll see if we can't work something out. Also I hold the Copyrights on all of my original works of art and language that appear on this site unless otherwise noted.
